How solar financing works
Most families pay for a solar system the way they pay for a car or a renovation: with a bank loan, a loan from a credit organisation, or leasing. The system helps to pay for itself: from the first month it removes most of the electricity bill, and that money goes towards the instalment.
- We visit, design the system and give you a fixed price and a specification.
- You take this offer to the bank or credit organisation of your choice. The lender decides the rate, the term and the down payment.
- Once the loan is approved, we install the system and connect it to the ENA grid.
- From then on the system cuts your bill while you repay the loan.
Rates, terms and fees are set by each lender and change often, so we do not quote them here. Enter the rate you are offered in the calculator below to see your payment.
Monthly payment against the bill
Take a 5.2 kW system for 1,350,000 ֏, which replaces a bill of up to 34,000 ֏ a month. Here is the monthly payment on the full price with no down payment, at example rates. They are not bank offers, just arithmetic:
| Rate | 3 years | 5 years | 7 years |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10% | 43,600 ֏ | 28,700 ֏ | 22,400 ֏ |
| 14% | 46,100 ֏ | 31,400 ֏ | 25,300 ֏ |
| 18% | 48,800 ֏ | 34,300 ֏ | 28,400 ֏ |
At 14% over 5 years the payment is about 31,400 ֏, less than the 34,000 ֏ the system saves each month. In total you repay about 1,885,000 ֏, of which 535,000 ֏ is interest. A shorter term means bigger payments but less interest. After the last payment the whole saving stays with you for the rest of the system's 25+ year life.
State subsidies: where things stand
The solar loan subsidy ended on 30 June 2025
Until 30 June 2025 the state subsidised the interest on loans for home solar systems. The programme has ended, and loans for solar panels taken after that date are on the lender's ordinary terms. If you read about subsidised solar loans online, check the date of the article.
Battery loan subsidy from 25 October 2026
Decree No. 1502-L came into force on 25 October 2026. It subsidises financing for batteries (energy storage) for solar systems: the interest rate on dram loans is reduced by 8 percentage points, and on leasing by 10 points. For example, if a lender charges 14%, you would pay 6% on a loan or 4% on leasing.
unverified It is not yet confirmed whether the decree covers private households, which banks take part and what limits apply. We will check your case during the consultation. More on batteries: when a solar battery makes sense.
Net metering: the support that stays
The most valuable support is not a subsidy but the net metering rules. A system of up to 150 kW can send its daytime surplus to the ENA grid and take it back at night, so you can use all your solar power without buying a battery.
